D & J – Canmore Family Photography
February 23, 2012
Dawnette and Justin took part in our mini-session last Sunday. It sure helps the productivity of a 25 minute photo shoot, when your family is this photogenic! We look forward to sharing the other families’ images with you very soon.

One last fall family shoot
November 21, 2011
These photographs will make you smile! C & A and their giggly little munchkins met us on a cool morning in Canmore, right before the fall weather turned to winter weather. Sometime Lanny and I have to work really hard to get our subjects to smile and be themselves. These two little ones were the perfect subjects, smiling and laughing throughout the whole shoot. Capturing their sweet little personalities was an absolute pleasure!

A very special family!
November 15, 2011
Will, Shawna and their daughter Alexis, were an huge inspiration to photograph. The smiles and laughter captured in the images below portray a happy carefree family. However, their story is much more complex. I am so glad they have given me permission to share it with you. Shawna is battling breast cancer that has metastasized to many other parts of her body including her pelvis, spine, ribs, skull, lung and liver. You would never know it, but in the photos below she is nursing a hip broken in three places. About a year ago, for her 36th birthday, a bunch of friends got together and purchased a family photo shoot for her from Two-Mann Tent Photography. That photo shoot was meant to have taken place this summer. However, this is where their story becomes even more unbelievable. On July 14th, just 4 days before our scheduled shoot, Will suffered a major stroke while running by Elk Lake in Victoria, BC. Thankfully, a fellow runner called 911, and essentially saved his life. Will’s recovery has been truly remarkable and an inspiration to all of us. Within 2 weeks of his stoke, he was already learning to walk again. At the point of this photo shoot on October 22nd, Will was back running outside 3-times a week. Despite all of these incredible life stresses, Shawna, Will and their daughter Alexis drove out to Canmore and spent an hour with us laughing, smiling and having fun. These are beautiful people, inside and out.

Chantelle and Nick and their three gorgeous kids
October 14, 2011
Photographing our own family members can be a real blast, especially when they’re this happy and good looking. Chantelle (Lanny’s cousin) & Nick and their three little kids epitomize the word “photogenic”. This family needed little or no direction from Lanny and I. The kids would naturally form themselves into visually pleasing compositions, look right at the camera, and viola! On a few occasions, a little help was needed from Mom and Dad, but nothing more than a bare-bum moon was needed to entice a few more authentic smiles. We had a seriously fun time shooting this family. Here are a few of our personal favourites from your shoot, Chantelle and Nick. Thanks for the great time!

Very proud of all those on both sides of the camera. Great subjects and great insight of the photography team. And I proudly think that “my” mountains and the best season brought out the best of everyone.
Love to all,
Dad/Uncle/Barry/and Grandpa bang bang.

A windy afternoon Canmore family photo shoot
October 3, 2011
We met Michelle, Tim and their two little kidlettes on an extremely windy afternoon in Canmore. It was so windy in fact, that Lanny and I intentionally chose a location with very few trees, given that lodgepole pines (Canmore’s main tree population) can topple quite easily. Despite the wind, their kids and pets rose to the occasion. Their little girl has the most gorgeous eye lashes. They are about as long and thick as an elephant’s. Their little boy was full of beans, which always makes for great photo potential. And their dogs, were the best behaved dogs we have ever dealt with on a photo shoot.

Morning light Canmore family photographer
September 27, 2011
We met Dawne & Colin early one morning at Quarry Lake, to photograph their gorgeous little family. Lanny and I often have to just “go with the flow” when photographing families with young children. Photographing children is all about capturing ‘fleeting moments’ and, sometimes these ‘fleeting moments’ are no longer than 1/10th of a second long. This was never more the case, than with this photo shoot. Capturing their gorgeous little girl was a breeze. Capturing the bounding energy of their three-year-old son, was a little more challenging. We had to be in position with our cameras, ready to shoot at any given moment. This is one of the huge advantages of having both Lanny and I shooting. We managed to get some great shots.

Travis & Melanie and their girls
August 21, 2011
We’ve now had the pleasure of photographing two adorable sets of twins in Canmore. However, this was our first time photographing identical twins. Luckily for us the girls were wearing different coloured shirts, which made our job a lot easier, when trying to call them by name. We met at Yamnuska Meadows for an evening shoot. Their big blue eyes will melt any heart.
