Cathryn & Cliff – Post Hotel, Lake Louise Wedding
April 22, 2012
It is an understatement to say that Lanny and I are incredibly excited in the days leading up to a wedding. Our excitement leading up to Cathryn and Cliff’s wedding was especially exciting, as it was our first of 2012. We were so fortunate to have had such a gorgeous couple to debut our 2012 season. Cathryn and Cliff got married at one of our favourite venues, The Post Hotel, in spectacular Lake Louise. One of my favourite parts of photographing a wedding is being in the bride’s room, as she’s getting ready. The energy in the room is always so exciting and, inevitably interspersed with a little drama. The drama in this particular wedding had to do with a faulty steamer, which after a very long struggle, eventually started to work. Cathryn looked absolutely radiant. Their small and intimate ceremony was held in the up-stairs library of The Post. You can tell a lot about the bride and groom, as a couple, by looking at the wedding guests during the ceremony. I couldn’t take my eyes off Cliff’s three brothers; all sitting in the front row beaming, with the biggest and proudest smiles. I get emotional just thinking about it. It was more than obvious how happy everyone was for Cathryn and Cliff. After the ceremony, as we were capturing some bridal party images, Lanny upheld his reputation of doing absolutely anything to get “the shot”. At one point, I looked over to find him lying on his stomach, in his nicely pressed dress shirt, in the middle of a wet slushy puddle. The post-reception party was absolutely “epic”, and I don’t use that word lightly. We have really, really enjoyed getting to know Cathryn and Cliff. They gave us full creative license, were super down to earth and a complete joy to photograph.

Cintia & Scott’s snowy morning engagement session
April 21, 2012
I was only half joking when I suggested to Scott and Cintia that we photograph their engagement session in San Diego, which is where Cintia is currently living. Instead, we met in the very unpredictable Canadian Rockies, in the early morning, in hopes of taking advantage on another magnificent sunrise. However, the sun never appeared that morning, but it was magnificent in other ways. We were rewarded with huge, fluffy, wet snowflakes. I absolutely love the way the snow flakes contrasted with Cintia gorgeous black hair. We’re really looking forward to photographing Cintia and Scott’s Moraine Lake wedding this summer.

Megan and Ryan’s early morning engagement shoot
April 13, 2012
Some of our clients look at us like we’re crazy when we ask them to meet us at 7:00am for a photo shoot. Thankfully Megan and Ryan were all game and, let me tell you, it was so worth it.
