Morning light Canmore family photographer

September 27, 2011

We met Dawne & Colin early one morning at Quarry Lake, to photograph their gorgeous little family. Lanny and I often have to just “go with the flow” when photographing families with young children. Photographing children is all about capturing ‘fleeting moments’ and, sometimes these ‘fleeting moments’ are no longer than 1/10th of a second long. This was never more the case, than with this photo shoot. Capturing their gorgeous little girl was a breeze. Capturing the bounding energy of their three-year-old son, was a little more challenging. We had to be in position with our cameras, ready to shoot at any given moment. This is one of the huge advantages of having both Lanny and I shooting. We managed to get some great shots.

Catherine & Paul’s Lake Louise Engagement Session

September 26, 2011

Catherine & Paul’s engagement session took place on the eve of their wedding, at the beautiful Chateau Lake Louise.  It is an understatement when I say these two are a very photogenic couple. They were an absolute pleasure to photograph and, despite the incredibly stressful week they had leading up to their wedding, their smiles were energetic, authentic and beautiful! We’ll tell you more about these two in their wedding post, which we are extremely excited to share with you very soon. For now, relish in the beauty of the landscapes and smiles below!

Paul’s family travelled all the way from Toronto for his wedding. As it was their first time in the mountains, we snapped a few family portraits too. The two beauties below are Paul’s and Catherine’s neices. The whole darn family is so photogenic!

Tami & Earl’s Mount Norquay Wedding, Banff

September 23, 2011

We photographed Tami & Earl’s wedding a few weeks back at Mount Norquay in Banff, Alberta. After their rainy day engagement session, which was so incredibly wet the entire shoot had to take place in a pedestrian underpass, we were keeping our fingers crossed for clear sunny skies. Thankfully, we were blessed with a truly magnificent day in the mountains. Tami & Earl’s authentic smiles and radiant energy created some truly beautiful moments for Lanny and I to capture.

Megan & Keith’s Canmore engagement photo session

September 19, 2011

You may remember Megan & Keith from the wedding photography contest, we held a few months ago. They were the hardcore couple you could barely recognize, as they were all bundled up, while snowboarding in sub-zero temperatures. Thankfully the weather for the photo shoot below was a little warmer:) For their engagement session we wanted to do something fun and outdoorsy, but not typical. We decided to explore in and around a small slot canyon, that we had once discovered. The steep water-polished limestone walls provided a unique venue with interesting light, and endless options for compositions. Megan and Keith were complete naturals when it came to “working it” for our cameras. We’re looking forward to shooting their Fernie wedding next summer.

Deb & Bob’s early morning Canmore shoot

September 12, 2011

Deb and Bob, had a lot to celebrate on their trip out to the Canadian Rockies. In addition to their 5 year anniversary, and both of their 30th birthdays, it was their first time away (as a couple) from their three children. They spent a romantic week touring the majestic rockies and finished off with a quick, early morning trip to Canmore, for a photo shoot with us. As Lanny and I already had a wedding booked that date, we had to meet Deb and Bob fairly early in the morning. The air was crisp and the light was outstanding. Deb, who is also a professional photographer, has been ‘following’ us on facebook for sometime. I am so glad she decided to schedule this shoot, as a celebration of her and Bob’s life together.

Mark & Krista – Juniper Mountain Lodge Wedding, Banff

September 11, 2011

Mark & Krista’s wedding was held at the Juniper Lodge in Banff National Park. Photographing the day, Lanny and I relished in the authentic chemistry between this cute couple. It is often the case, that we have a hard time ‘keeping it together’ during the ceremony (especially Lanny, who is very in touch with his emotions:). However, this ceremony took the cake. Overlooking the townsite of Banff, under bluebird skies, the vows exchanged between the couple would bring a tear to those with the hardest of hearts.  And, if that wasn’t enough, anytime I would glance over at Krista’s adorable father, I would have to choke it back even further. Thanks for such a wonderfully emotionally charged day Mark & Krista. Here’s a little sneak peak at a few of your images.
